Zambia is home to the copperbelt province - a mineral-rich vein populated with many mines, helping to drive the recovering Zambian economy. Rising copper prices brought the country's natural deposits to the fore in 2004.

Konkola copper mines - one of the major companies operating in the area, run four mines in the copperbelt, and produce 2 million tons of copper ore per year.

OTR were chosen to assist with Konkola's mining operations by supplying tyres and providing service operations on-site in 2007.

Kitwe is the second largest city in Zambia, and home to two underground mines - Nkana in the south-west and Mindolo in the north-west. Nkana includes a concentrator, smelter and refinery, as well as a cobalt plant producing about 1800 tonnes per year.

Ndola is an important commercial centre in Zambia, and has a large copper mine producing 10,000 tons per year. The mine, one of the oldest in Zambia is owned by FQML.
