2008 saw OTR sign a long-term contract to supply their TotalTyreLogic service to the Sydvaranger mine in Norway. The mine was recently reopened by Sydvaranger Gruve AS, and is producing iron ore for the European market.

Operations are underway at the mine in the far north of the
country, with winter temperatures dropping to -30°C and
below. While the conditions can provide a challenge, OTR
are well equipped to deal with the extremes that the weather can provide.

OTR have been supplying a full tyre management system to the mine for all vehicles on-site, and
have been responsible for all related accessories, such as rims and valves. In addition to this, tyre monitoring and inspection is being
continually carried out to ensure the most cost effective use of tyre resources.

The mine's pre war facilities have been modernised and upgraded and now
include an on-site repair bay, complete with a dedicated Iveco Arctic truck,
capable of handling tyres up to 57" in the often extreme weather conditions.

The truck is the most advanced OTR have developed and has been operating on-
site since the Spring, and many of the components for the vehicle were specially
made or adapted to cope with the challenging climate and the parameters of the service contract.

The iron ore is being produced for European steel companies, with estimated resources expected to last for 20-25 years.
