OTR Ghana goes into production
The Ghanaian factory team with the OTR 3300R51 Tyre
The recent tyre crisis triggered by the rising cost of rubber has seen the development of a retread plant on the south coast of Ghana, paving the way for quality remould tyres to be shipped from the factory onto site.
This new retreading factory in Tarkwa (in conjunction with Goldfields Ghana Ltd) has the ability to retread 25" to 51" earthmover tyres, and produced its first tyre, an OTR 3300R51, in February of 2008, helping to ease the burden of the global tyre crisis for customers and offering quality retreads without the need to be shipped from the UK.
OTR Production Director Darren Flint was particularly pleased with the development - "Great effort from everyone involved in the Ghana Factory. For a totally new team to produce tyres in such a short time is a fantastic achievement.
